Moscow expects Tbilisi to take meaningful reconciliation steps (09.11.12)

Diplomatic spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said this in Moscow on Saturday two days after Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili appointed a special envoy for mending fences with Russia. The envoy’s name is Zurab Abashidze.

Ever since the 2008 South Caucasus war and Russia’s recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Moscow and Tbilisi have been in a diplomatic fall-out. The contacts between them have been maintained through the Embassies of Switzerland.
