Georgia accused of supporting terrorism (25.06.12)
The Foreign Ministry of the new South Caucasus nation of Abkhazia has asked the participants of the ongoing Geneva consultations on the South Caucasus to make Georgia end its support of terrorists operating on Abkhaz territory close to the Georgian border.
It said in a statement on Friday that the terrorists are mostly targeting civilians who cooperate with the Abkhaz authorities.
Abkhazia and another South Caucasus region, South Ossetia, broke away from Georgia in 1992 following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Shortly after crushing the 2008 Georgian aggression against South Ossetia, Russia recognized both as independent states.
